Get Involved with SETI

For Educators and Students

Imagine the excitement in your classroom as students scan the skies for potential alien signals, analyze real-time data, and contribute to scientific research. This program not only enriches the learning experience but also inspires the next generation of scientists.

SETI offers students and educators the opportunity to engage in authentic scientific research. Participants will learn how to monitor radio signals, analyze data, and understand the implications of detecting potential extraterrestrial communications. This hands-on experience brings abstract scientific concepts to life, fostering a deeper appreciation for space science and the search for extraterrestrial intelligence.

  • Educational Modules: We provide comprehensive training materials and lesson plans to help educators integrate SETI into their curriculum.
  • Live Operation: Students participate in live sessions, where they can operate the DSS-28 telescope remotely and analyze data.
  • Project-Based Learning: Students can undertake projects based on their observations, encouraging critical thinking and scientific reasoning.

For Citizen Scientists

Imagine being part of a global network of citizen scientists, each making valuable contributions to our understanding of extraterrestrial signals. Your participation can help improve signal detection algorithms and provide new knowledge about the possibility of intelligent life beyond our Earth.

Citizen scientists play a crucial role in SETI. By participating, you will help collect and analyze data on potential extraterrestrial signals, contributing to ongoing research efforts. This initiative is a unique chance to work alongside professional scientists and make meaningful contributions to our understanding of the universe.
  • Training and Resources: Access detailed guides on how to conduct observations and analyze data.
  • Collaborative Research: Join the scientific community, share your findings, and contribute to research projects.
  • Contribute to Science: Your observations and analyses will be used in real scientific studies, advancing our knowledge of potential extraterrestrial intelligence.

Online Training

To begin searching the galaxy for extraterrestrial intelligence, take the first step and email Mission Control at mc@lcer.org or call 760-946-5414 ext. 270 to sign up.

Join our SETI Campaign today and become part of the mission to uncover the mysteries of the universe and the possibility of intelligent life beyond Earth!

Once we receive your interest, you will complete our training course to learn how to operate the DSS-28 telescope and analyze data. Then, it's time for takeoff: you'll begin conducting your own search for signals from extraterrestrial sources.

To begin your search today, follow the link below!

As you begin your scan, Dr. Levin has a few words of encouragement, "We won't know if there's life out there until we look for it, and today, you could be the person who makes that discovery!"
